ARTISTSFAQS • AFTERCARE

Congratulations on your new tattoo. Below is some important aftercare information. How your tattoo heals from here is up to you and how well you follow these instructions. If any questions or concerns happen to arise, please do not hesitate to give us a call at (408)280-6699.
  • Remove your bandage after 1-2 hours. Do not tear off your bandage when you remove it. Use a warm, damp washcloth to loosen the bandage from the tattoo. This will prevent you from accidentally removing part of your tattoo with the bandage.
  • After you remove the bandage, wash your tattoo with warm water and a liquid anti-bacterial soap (Provon or Dial), being careful not to soak your tattoo. Clean your tattoo this way three times a day until it is healed.
  • Apply Lubriderm Seriously Sensitive or Curel Sensitive Skin lotion. If the lotion you are using burns, discontinue use immediately.
  • Your tattoo will scab up and may itch while it is healing.
DO NOT SCRATCH OR PICK AT IT!
Your tattoo will heal just fine without your dirty hands all over it.
  • Keep your tattoo clean, using anti-bacterial soap only to clean it, but keep in mind that over-cleaning your tattoo can cause irritation.ª
  • Keep your tattoo out of the sun. After it is healed, apply sunblock over the entire area when it is exposed to sunlight.ª
  • Avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, ocean/lake water, and any other still bodies of water until your tattoo is completely healed (usually about 3-4 weeks).
  • Do not  use petroleum jelly or lotions containing lanolin during your tattoo’s healing period. Prolonged use of any of these ointments and lotions will clog up your pores, slow the healing process, and may prevent the color in your tattoo from staying vibrant.
  • DO NOT TAKE ADVICE FROM YOUR FRIENDS!
