Tattoo - FAQ
We charge $125/hr and we have a $50 shop minimum. Charge is dependent on the detail and size of the tattoo. Small and detailed can take as much time as big and bold. When you come into the shop, we will give you a firm price once the design is decided. |
Everyone experiences pain differently. Some people describe getting a tattoo as a light cat-scratch, whereas others fall asleep. Some parts of the body, such as areas with more bone, tend to hurt more than muscular parts. |
Yes. The ink is being put into the dermis layer of skin. Any time you break the skin, there will be some blood-product during the tattoo. |
We suggest that during the healing period of your tattoo, which is usually about 4-6 weeks, you avoid hot tubs/swimming pools, lake/ocean water, or any soaking in general. It is not a good idea to drink alcohol heavily immediately following getting a tattoo, as alcohol is a blood thinner and will cause your tattoo to bleed more. Basically, you have an open wound and want to do everything you possibly can to keep your tattoo clean. Try to avoid wearing clothing that rubs or is tight-fitting directly over your fresh tattoo. It should be washed with a mild, diluted, perfume-free soap three times daily. We suggest a variety of over-the-counter lotions and moisturizers to aid in the healing of your tattoo. Tattoos need moisture, so apply one of these whenever you notice your tattoo is dry or itchy. It is typical for the skin around a tattoo to look red in the first week of healing. This is why we suggest soap and moisturizers to aid in soothing the surrounding skin. It is also typical for a tattoo to become "scabby" and dry. Again, that is why moisturizers are essential to the healing of your tattoo. |
Damon, Mark, and Zack love to work with clients taking original ideas and putting them into custom tattoo designs. They encourage people to bring reference material, whether it is a bumper sticker or a beloved family treasure for inspiration. We also have a wide variety of reference materials to get you started. If you have your own design already drawn, you can bring that in, as well. Our shop policy is to provide unique, one-of-a-kind, customized tattoos so that every client walks away with their own tattoo. |
Some tattoos require touch-up work. Basically, what this means is that, while the tattoo was healing, small areas of the tattoo lost some of its pigment. We provide free touch-ups for a period of one year after the tattoo was done. |
